Meaning

This is the royal knowledge, the royal secret — the most purifying, supreme, directly perceivable, according to dharma, easy to practice, and imperishable.

Understanding

Seven qualities of this supreme teaching: (1) Raja-vidya (royal knowledge — the king/highest of all knowledge). (2) Raja-guhya (royal secret — the highest of all secrets). (3) Pavitram uttamam (supremely purifying). (4) Pratyaksha-avagama (directly perceivable — not just inferential or scriptural but immediately experienced). (5) Dharmyam (in accord with dharma — not opposed to right order). (6) Susukham kartum (easy to practice — su + sukham = good+happy to do). Avyayam (imperishable — its fruit does not decay). These qualities make it the supreme teaching.
