Meaning

The Blessed Lord said: To you who are not envious, I shall now reveal this most secret (guhyatama) knowledge together with realization — knowing which, you shall be freed from the inauspicious.

Understanding

The opening of Chapter 9 — the most celebrated teaching chapter. Guhyatamam (most secret — superlative of guhya). This secret is reserved for anasuyave — one who is NOT envious/critical, one who receives with open receptivity. The combination: jnanam vijnana-sahitam — knowledge TOGETHER WITH direct realization (vijnana). Not theoretical alone. The promise: yaj jnatva mokshyase ashubhat — knowing which, you shall be freed from the inauspicious (ashubha — the painful, the unfortunate: samsara). This is the most direct path to liberation.
