Bhagavad Gita BG 8.18
Chapter 8, Verse 18 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation
अव्यक्ताद्व्यक्तयः सर्वाः प्रभवन्त्यहरागमे । रात्र्यागमे प्रलीयन्ते तत्रैवाव्यक्तसंज्ञके ॥
avyaktad vyaktayah sarvah prabhavant y ahar-agame ratry-agame praliyante tatraiva avyakta-samjnake
Meaning
At the coming of day, all manifest things arise from the Unmanifest. At the coming of night, they dissolve back into that same Unmanifest.
Understanding
The cosmic rhythm of creation and dissolution: avyaktAt (from the Unmanifest — the unmanifested subtle state) vyaktayah sarvah (all manifest things) prabhavanti ahar-agame (arise at the coming of Day — Brahma's Day). RAtry-agame praliyante (at the coming of Night, they dissolve) tatra eva (back into that very same) avyakta-samjnake (what is called the Unmanifest). The universe breathes: manifest at Day, unmanifest at Night. This is the Brahma-cycle, the breath of the cosmic creator.
