Bhagavad Gita BG 6.45
Chapter 6, Verse 45 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation
प्रयत्नाद्यतमानस्तु योगी संशुद्धकिल्बिषः । अनेकजन्मसंसिद्धस् ततो याति परां गतिम् ॥
prayatnad yatamanas tu yogi samshuddha-kilbishah Aneka-janma-samsiddhas tato yati param gatim
Meaning
The yogi who strives with effort, purified of impurities, perfected through many births — that one then attains the supreme destination.
Understanding
The arc of the long practitioner: prayatnat yatamana (striving with effort, applying oneself). Samshuddha-kilbisha (purified of kilbisha — impurities, obstructions). This purification happens across aneka-janma (many births) — the journey may not fit in one lifetime. Samsiddha (perfected across those many births). Then — tatah (then, from that point) — yati param gatim — attains the supreme (para) destination (gati). The Gita's deep affirmation: the path is not wasted, even across many lifetimes. Purification accumulates.
