Chapter 6, Verse 41 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

प्राप्य पुण्यकृतां लोकान् उषित्वा शाश्वतीः समाः । शुचीनां श्रीमतां गेहे योगभ्रष्टोऽभिजायते ॥

prapya punya-krtam lokan ushitva shashvatis samah shucinam shrimatam gehe yoga-bhrashto 'bhijayate

Meaning

Having reached the worlds of the meritorious, and having dwelt there for immeasurable years, the yoga-fallen one is reborn in the house of the pure and the prosperous.

Understanding

The specific mechanism of the fallen yogi's journey. First: prapya punya-krtam lokan (reaching the worlds of the meritorious — higher realms that the accumulated punya of sincere yoga practice earns). Ushitva shashvatis samah (dwelling there for immeasurable ages). Then rebirth: yoga-bhrastha (the yoga-fallen one) abhijayate (is reborn) in shucinam shrimatam gehe (the house of the pure and the prosperous). The next birth conditions are elevated — a spiritually favorable environment to continue.
