सङ्कल्पप्रभवान्कामांस् त्यक्त्वा सर्वानशेषतः । मनसैवेन्द्रियग्रामं विनियम्य समन्ततः ॥
sankalpa-prabhavan kaman tyaktva sarvan asheshatah manasaivendriya-gramam viniyamya samantatah
Meaning
Completely abandoning (without remainder) all desires born of sankalpa — thoroughly restraining the whole group of senses by the mind alone, from all sides...
Understanding
The beginning of a two-verse instruction set (24-25). Sankalpa-prabhavan kaman (desires that are born of sankalpa — the will-to-result, the mental projection of a desired future). These desires must be tyaktva (abandoned) sarvan asheshatah — ALL of them, without remainder (ashesa = without remainder, without leaving any behind). Then: manasaiva indriya-gramam viniyamya samantatah — by the mind ALONE, restraining the entire group (gramam) of senses from all sides (samantatah). The mind controls the senses — not physical force or suppression.
