Bhagavad Gita BG 5.26
Chapter 5, Verse 26 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation
कामक्रोधवियुक्तानां यतीनां यतचेतसाम् । अभितो ब्रह्मनिर्वाणं वर्तते विदितात्मनाम् ॥
kama-krodha-viyuktanam yatinam yata-cetasam abhito brahma-nirvanam vartate viditAtmanam
Meaning
Brahma-nirvana is available on all sides (abundantly present) for those ascetics who are free of desire and anger, whose minds are controlled, who know the Self.
Understanding
A striking phrase: abhitah — on all sides, all around, abundantly present. Brahma-nirvana is not hidden at the end of a long road but vartate (exists, is present) abhitah — on all sides — for the qualified person. The qualifications: kama-krodha-viyukta (free from desire and anger), yata-cetasa (controlled mind), and viditAtman (one who knows the Self). These are the marks of the liberated, not prerequisites on a checklist.
