Bhagavad Gita BG 3.30

Chapter 3, Verse 30 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

मयि सर्वाणि कर्माणि संन्यस्याध्यात्मचेतसा । निराशीर्निर्ममो भूत्वा युध्यस्व विगतज्वरः ॥ ३० ॥

mayi sarvāṇi karmāṇi saṃnyasyādhyātma-cetasā nirāśīr nirmamo bhūtvā yudhyasva vigata-jvaraḥ

Meaning

Surrendering all actions to Me, with your mind fixed on the Self (adhyātma), free from desire and possessiveness, fight — free from your fever (grief).

Understanding

This verse is the distilled personal instruction to Arjuna. Four elements combine: (1) mayi sarvāṇi karmāṇi saṃnyasya — 'surrendering all actions to Me,' making every act an offering; (2) adhyātma-cetasā — 'with the mind centred on the Self / the inner divine'; (3) nirāśīḥ nirmamo bhūtvā — 'free from desire (āśā) and possessiveness (mamata)'; (4) vigata-jvaraḥ — 'free from the fever,' where jvara (fever) metaphorically captures the burning anxiety and grief that has paralysed Arjuna. With these four as foundation: yudhyasva — 'fight.' This verse shows that karma-yoga is not abstract philosophy — it resolves into a concrete, liveable stance that a person can bring to any action.
