Bhagavad Gita BG 2.68
Chapter 2, Verse 68 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation
तस्माद्यस्य महाबाहो निगृहीतानि सर्वशः । इन्द्रियाणीन्द्रियार्थेभ्यस्तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता ॥ ६८ ॥
tasmād yasya mahā-bāho nigṛhītāni sarvaśaḥ indriyāṇīndriyārthebhyas tasya prajñā pratiṣṭhitā
Meaning
Therefore, O mighty-armed, one whose senses are restrained from their objects is certainly of steady mind.
Understanding
The logical conclusion from the previous verses: 'tasmāt' — therefore — one whose senses ('indriyāṇi') are completely restrained ('nigṛhītāni sarvaśaḥ' — all of them, in every way) from their objects ('indriyārthebhyaḥ') has 'prajñā pratiṣṭhitā' — firmly established wisdom. The word 'sarvaśaḥ' (completely, in every way) is important: not partial, not selective control, but comprehensive mastery of all the senses.
