Bhagavad Gita BG 2.32
Chapter 2, Verse 32 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation
यदृच्छया चोपपन्नं स्वर्गद्वारमपावृतम् । सुखिनः क्षत्रियाः पार्थ लभन्ते युद्धमीदृशम् ॥ ३२ ॥
yadṛcchayā copapannaṃ svarga-dvāram apāvṛtam sukhinaḥ kṣatriyāḥ pārtha labhante yuddham īdṛśam
Meaning
O Partha, happy are the Kshatriyas who are offered such a righteous battle, which comes of its own accord as an open door to heaven.
Understanding
This war has come to Arjuna unsought — 'yadṛcchayā' (spontaneously, of its own accord). For a warrior, a righteous battle arriving unasked is the highest gift: it is 'svarga-dvāram apāvṛtam' — the open door to heaven. Kshatriyas are blessed ('sukhinaḥ' — happy, fortunate) when they get such an opportunity. The war Arjuna stands on the brink of refusing is, from the warrior's perspective, an extraordinary fortune.
