Bhagavad Gita BG 18.77

Chapter 18, Verse 77 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

तच्च संस्मृत्य संस्मृत्य रूपमत्यद्भुतं हरेः । विस्मयो मे महान्राजन् हृष्यामि च पुनः पुनः ॥

tac ca samsmrtya samsmrtya rupam aty-adbhutam hareh vismayo me mahan rajan hrishyami ca punah punah

Meaning

And as I recall that most wondrous form of Hari again and again, O King, great is my wonder — and I rejoice again and again.

Understanding

The final verse before the closing couplet (v78): tac ca samsmrtya samsmrtya (and recalling THAT also again and again — the 'that' refers to the vishvarupa, the universal cosmic form revealed in Ch11). Rupam aty-adbhutam hareh (the supremely wondrous form of Hari — Hari = Krishna as the one who takes away sins/obstacles). Vismayo me mahan rajan (great is my wonder, O King — mahan vismaya = great astonishment). Hrishyami ca punah punah (and I rejoice again and again — punah punah echoing muhur muhuh of the previous verse). The vision of the vishvarupa — the cosmic form — is equally inexhaustible as the dialogue. Sanjaya's wonder is not spent; it renews with each recollection.
