Bhagavad Gita BG 18.76

Chapter 18, Verse 76 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

राजन्संस्मृत्य संस्मृत्य संवादमिममद्भुतम् । केशवार्जुनयोः पुण्यं हृष्यामि च मुहुर्मुहुः ॥

rajan samsmrtya samsmrtya samvadam imam adbhutam keshav-arjunayoh punyam hrishyami ca muhur muhuh

Meaning

O King, as I recall again and again this wondrous, sacred dialogue of Keshava and Arjuna, I rejoice again and again.

Understanding

Sanjaya's ecstasy of remembrance: rajan (O King — addressing Dhritarashtra). Samsmrtya samsmrtya (again and again recalling — the repetition emphasizes the repeated, renewed nature of the joy). Samvadam imam adbhutam (this wondrous dialogue). Keshav-arjunayoh punyam (the sacred/holy [dialogue] of Keshava [Krishna] and Arjuna). Hrishyami ca muhur muhuh (and I rejoice again and again — hrishyami = I am delighted/thrilled, muhur muhuh = again and again). The remembrance of the divine teaching is itself a source of renewed joy — each recollection brings fresh delight. This is the nature of sacred memory: it is never exhausted, only deepened.
