Bhagavad Gita BG 18.75
Chapter 18, Verse 75 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation
व्यासप्रसादाच्छ्रुतवान् एतद्गुह्यमहं परम् । योगं योगेश्वरात्कृष्णात् साक्षात्कथयतः स्वयम् ॥
vyasa-prasadac chrutavan etad guhyam aham param yogam yogeshvarat krishnat sakshAt kathayatah svayam
Meaning
By the grace of Vyasa, I have heard this supreme secret yoga directly from Krishna, the Lord of yoga, who declared it Himself.
Understanding
Sanjaya acknowledges his extraordinary privilege: vyasa-prasadat (by the grace of Vyasa — the sage Vyasa blessed Sanjaya with divine hearing/insight, called divya-drishti, so he could witness and narrate the Kurukshetra events to the blind Dhritarashtra). Etad guhyam param yogam (this supreme secret yoga — the teaching of the Bhagavad Gita). Chrutavan (I have heard). Yogeshvarat krishnat (from Krishna, the Lord of yoga — yogeshvara). SakshAt kathayatah svayam (who declared it directly Himself — sakshAt = directly, in person, face to face). The chain of transmission: Vyasa's grace → Sanjaya's divine hearing → Dhritarashtra's ears → our tradition. The teaching was given directly; Sanjaya witnessed it directly; Vyasa's grace made that direct witness possible.
