Bhagavad Gita BG 18.70

Chapter 18, Verse 70 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

अध्येष्यते च य इमं धर्म्यं संवादमावयोः । ज्ञानयज्ञेन तेनाहम् इष्टः स्यामिति मे मतिः ॥

adhyeshyate ca ya imam dharmmyam samvadam avayoh jnana-yajnena tenaham ishtah syam iti me matih

Meaning

And whoever will study this sacred dialogue of ours — by that person I shall have been worshipped through the yajna of knowledge. This is My conviction.

Understanding

The study of the Gita itself as worship: adhyeshyate ya imam dharmmyam samvadam (whoever will study this sacred/righteous dialogue — dharmmyam = righteous, sacred). Avayoh (of us two — the dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna). Jnana-yajnena (through the yajna/sacrifice of knowledge — the intellectual engagement with the text IS a sacred offering). Tena aham ishtah syam (by that person I shall have been worshipped/honored). Iti me matih (this is My settled conviction/view). The Gita's self-referential declaration: studying the Gita is worshipping Krishna through jnana-yajna. The study itself is the sacred fire into which understanding is offered.
