Bhagavad Gita BG 18.62

Chapter 18, Verse 62 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

तमेव शरणं गच्छ सर्वभावेन भारत । तत्प्रसादात्परां शान्तिं स्थानं प्राप्स्यसि शाश्वतम् ॥

tam eva sharanam gaccha sarva-bhavena bharata tat-prasadat param shantim sthAnam prapsyasi shashvatam

Meaning

Go to Him alone for refuge with your whole being, O Bharata. By His grace you shall attain supreme peace and the eternal abode.

Understanding

The supreme instruction: tam eva sharanam gaccha (go to refuge in That one alone — the Lord dwelling in the heart). Sarva-bhavena (with your whole being — sarva = all, bhava = being/feeling/mode; total, full, without reservation). Bharata (O Bharata — the royal address). Tat-prasadat (by His grace — the same prasada keyword from earlier). Param shantim (supreme peace — not just relief but the peace that surpasses all ordinary peace). SthAnam prapsyasi shashvatam (you shall attain the eternal abode/place). This is the Gita's penultimate instruction: full surrender to the Lord in the heart, with whole being, in total refuge.
