Bhagavad Gita BG 18.10
Chapter 18, Verse 10 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation
न द्वेष्ट्यकुशलं कर्म कुशले नानुषज्जते । त्यागी सत्त्वसमाविष्टो मेधावी छिन्नसंशयः ॥
na dveshty akushalam karma kushale nanushajjate tyagi sattva-samavishto medhavi chinna-samshayah
Meaning
The renouncer who is filled with sattva, who is wise and whose doubts are cut away, neither hates unpleasant action nor clings to pleasant action.
Understanding
Here is the sattvic renouncer: filled with sattva, discerning (medhavi) and free of doubt. This person neither dislikes unpleasant (akushala) work nor clings to pleasant (kushala) work. The renunciation is inward: liking and disliking lose their grip while action goes on. Why outward renunciation of all action is impossible is stated in 18.11.
