Bhagavad Gita BG 14.4

Chapter 14, Verse 4 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

सर्वयोनिषु कौन्तेय मूर्तयः सम्भवन्ति याः । तासां ब्रह्म महद्योनिः अहं बीजप्रदः पिता ॥

sarva-yonishu kaunteya murtayah sambhavanti yah tasam brahma mahad yonih aham bija-pradah pita

Meaning

Whatever forms arise in all wombs, O Kaunteya — of them the great Brahman is the womb, and I am the seed-giving father.

Understanding

The universalization of v3: sarva-yonishu (in ALL wombs — not just human wombs but every mode of birth in the universe). Murtayah sambhavanti (the forms/embodied beings that arise). Tasam brahma mahad yonih (of all those — the great Brahman/Prakriti is the womb). Aham bija-pradah pita (and I am the seed-giving father). This extends the teaching: not just one creation event but EVERY birth, in every species, in every world — all of them are born from the union of Prakriti (the material womb) and Purusha (the consciousness-seed). The 'I' here is the universal Purusha-principle, present in every birth as the spark of consciousness.
