Bhagavad Gita BG 14.27

Chapter 14, Verse 27 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

ब्रह्मणो हि प्रतिष्ठाहं अमृतस्याव्ययस्य च । शाश्वतस्य च धर्मस्य सुखस्यैकान्तिकस्य च ॥

brahmano hi pratishtha 'ham amrtasyavyayasya ca shasvatasya ca dharmasya sukhasyaikantikasya ca

Meaning

For I am the abode (pratishtha) of Brahman — the immortal and the imperishable — of eternal dharma and of absolute (ekantika) bliss.

Understanding

The final verse of Ch14 is among the most profound in the Gita: brahmanoh hi pratishtha 'ham (I am the pratishtha — the foundation/abode/ground — of Brahman). This is the ultimate declaration: Brahman itself rests in Krishna (Ishvara). Or: the personal Divine is the gateway to the Absolute. Amrtasyavyayasya ca (the immortal and the imperishable). Shasvatasya ca dharmasya (of eternal/eternal dharma). Sukhasyaikantikasya ca (of absolute bliss — ekantika = one-pointed, absolute, without any admixture). The chapter that began with guna-analysis ends here: transcend the gunas → reach bhakti (v26) → reach Krishna → reach Brahman itself. The path from guna-binding to the Absolute ground is complete.
