Bhagavad Gita BG 14.2
Chapter 14, Verse 2 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation
इदं ज्ञानमुपाश्रित्य मम साधर्म्यमागताः । सर्गेऽपि नोपजायन्ते प्रलये न व्यथन्ति च ॥
idam jnanam upashritya mama sadharmy agatah sarge 'pi nopajayante pralaye na vyathanti ca
Meaning
Those who have taken refuge in this knowledge and attained the same nature as Mine — they are not born at creation, nor are they troubled at dissolution.
Understanding
The extraordinary fruit of this knowledge: idam jnanam upashritya (having taken refuge in this knowledge). Mama sadharmy agatah (having attained the same nature as Mine — sadharmy = same dharma/nature as the Divine). Sarge 'pi nopajayante (at creation — sarga — they are NOT re-born, even when a new universe begins). Pralaye na vyathanti ca (and at dissolution — pralaya — they are NOT troubled/disturbed). This describes mukti (liberation): the jnani who has attained God's nature is beyond the creation-dissolution cycle. Born to a new universe? No. Disturbed by cosmic dissolution? No. They rest in the nature of the Eternal itself.
