Bhagavad Gita BG 14.1

Chapter 14, Verse 1 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

पुनः परं प्रवक्ष्यामि ज्ञानानां ज्ञानमुत्तमम् । यज्ज्ञात्वा मुनयः सर्वे परां सिद्धिमितो गताः ॥

punah param pravakshyami jnananAm jnanam uttamam yaj jnatva munayah sarve param siddhim ito gatah

Meaning

I shall again declare the supreme knowledge — the highest of all knowledge — knowing which all the sages have gone from here to the highest perfection.

Understanding

Krishna opens with a promise: punah param pravakshyami (I shall again declare — the 'again' acknowledges the continuity from previous chapters). JnanAnam jnanam uttamam (the supreme among all knowledge — not one knowledge among many but the highest). Yaj jnatva munayah sarve (knowing which, all the munis — the contemplatives and sages). Param siddhim ito gatah (have gone from THIS (embodied state) to the highest siddhi/perfection). This is a teaching of liberation in THIS life — ito gatah (gone from here). The knowledge of the three gunas — how they bind, how they operate, and how to transcend them — is the supreme knowledge that leads to liberation.
