Bhagavad Gita BG 12.8

Chapter 12, Verse 8 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

मय्येव मन आधत्स्व मयि बुद्धिं निवेशय । निवसिष्यसि मय्येव अत ऊर्ध्वं न संशयः ॥

mayy eva mana adhatsva mayi buddhim niveshaya nivasisyasi mayy eva ata urdhvam na samshayah

Meaning

Fix your mind on Me alone, place your intellect in Me — you shall live in Me hereafter, without doubt.

Understanding

The first and highest instruction: mayi eva mana adhatsva (fix your mind in Me alone). Mayi buddhim niveshaya (place your intellect in Me). Nivasisyasi mayy eva (you shall dwell in Me alone). Ata urdhvam na samshayah (from this point onward, without doubt). This is the direct, full instruction. Mind and intellect both placed in the Divine. The result: dwelling IN the Divine — not merely worshipping the Divine from outside but living within the Divine consciousness. Na samshaya — no doubt about this outcome.
