Bhagavad Gita BG 12.7
Chapter 12, Verse 7 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation
तेषामहं समुद्धर्ता मृत्युसंसारसागरात् । भवामि नचिरात्पार्थ मय्यावेशितचेतसाम् ॥
tesham aham samuddharta mrityu-samsara-sAgarat bhavami na cirat partha mayi aveshita-cetasam
Meaning
For those whose minds are absorbed in Me, I quickly become the deliverer from the ocean of mortal samsara, O Partha.
Understanding
The direct promise of grace: tesham aham samuddharta (I become their deliverer/rescuer). MRtyu-samsara-sAgarat (from the ocean of mortal samsara — mrityu = death, samsara = the cycle, sagara = ocean; the metaphor of samsara as a great ocean that drowns is classical). Bhavami na cirat (I become [this deliverer] quickly, without delay — na cirat = without a long time). Partha (O Partha — the personal address). Mayi aveshita-cetasam (for those whose minds are absorbed in Me — aveshita = entered into, immersed). The condition is singular: absorbed mind in Krishna. The response is swift divine rescue from the terrifying ocean of samsaric death-and-rebirth. This is the compassionate heart of bhakti yoga.
