Bhagavad Gita BG 11.27
Chapter 11, Verse 27 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation
vaktrani te tvaramana vishanti damshtRa-karalani bhayanakani kecid vilagna dashanantareshu sandrshyante curnita'r uttamangaih
Meaning
They rush into your terrible mouths with fearful tusks/fangs. Some are seen stuck between the teeth, their heads crushed.
Understanding
The most graphic verse of the Vishvarupa description. Vaktrani bhayanakani damshtRa-karalani (terrible, terrifying mouths with dreadful fangs/tusks). Tvaramana vishanti (rushing in eagerly — as if drawn in against their will or even rushing toward it). Kecid vilagna dashanantareshu (some stuck/caught between the teeth). Curnitar uttamangaih (with their heads/uppermost limbs crushed). The Cosmic Devourer is not a beautiful vision — it is the terrifying reality of universal destruction. Time consuming all. The vision that provoked Arjuna's next question: 'Who are you?'
