Bhagavad Gita BG 11.26

Chapter 11, Verse 26 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

अमी च त्वां धृतराष्ट्रस्य पुत्राः सर्वे सहैवावनिपालसंघैः । भीष्मो द्रोणः सूतपुत्रस्तथासौ सहास्मदीयैरपि योधमुख्यैः ॥

ami ca tvam dhrtarashtrasya putras sarve sahaiva avani-pala-sanghaih bhishmo dronah suta-putras tathasau sahasmadiayair api yodha-mukhyaih

Meaning

And there — all the sons of Dhritarashtra together with the host of kings, and Bhishma, Drona, and Karna, and our own chief warriors too…

Understanding

The terrifying personal dimension of the Vishvarupa: Arjuna recognizes specific individuals rushing into the fire-mouths of the Cosmic Form. Dhritarashtra's sons (the Kauravas), the assembled kings (avani-pala), Bhishma, Drona, Karna — and asmadiyaih api (our own warriors too). Both sides. Friend and enemy alike. All rushing into the fire-mouths. The abstraction of 'the world' becomes personal: these are the people Arjuna knows, loves, and has named in Ch1. The terror is personal.
