Chapter 11, Verse 13 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

तत्रैकस्थं जगत्कृत्स्नं प्रविभक्तमनेकधा । अपश्यद्देवदेवस्य शरीरे पाण्डवस्तदा ॥

tatraika-stham jagat krtsnam pravibhaktam anekadha apashyad deva-devasya Sharire pandavas tada

Meaning

There, Arjuna (the Pandava) then saw the entire world — in all its manifold divisions — standing as one in the body of the God of gods.

Understanding

The central vision of Ch11: tatraikaStham jagat krtsnam pravibhaktam anekadhA (the ENTIRE world, in all its manifold diversity, standing as ONE). Apashyat deva-devasya sharire (saw in the body of the God of gods). The vision: all the diversity of the universe — every being, every dimension, every form — is seen as ONE within the Vishvarupa. This is the experiential realization of the non-dual teaching: plurality and unity seen simultaneously. The many and the One are not contradictory — they are seen as ONE in the divine body.
