Bhagavad Gita BG 10.8

Chapter 10, Verse 8 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

अहं सर्वस्य प्रभवो मत्तः सर्वं प्रवर्तते । इति मत्वा भजन्ते मां बुधा भावसमन्विताः ॥

aham sarvasya prabhavo mattah sarvam pravartate iti matva bhajante mam budha bhava-samanvitah

Meaning

I am the origin of all; everything proceeds from Me. Knowing this, the wise, endowed with bhava (feeling/existence), worship Me.

Understanding

The most compressed and complete statement of Krishna's cosmic centrality: aham sarvasya prabhavah (I am the prabhava — origin, source, emergence — of everything). Mattah sarvam pravartate (from Me everything proceeds, moves, operates). The knowing: iti matva (knowing this) — the wise (budha) who are bhava-samanvita (endowed with bhava — here meaning feeling, love, and also 'existence': being filled with devotional being) bhajante mam (worship Me). The knowing of the source naturally becomes worship of the source.
