Bhagavad Gita BG 10.6
Chapter 10, Verse 6 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation
महर्षयः सप्त पूर्वे चत्वारो मनवस्तथा । मद्भावा मानसा जाता येषां लोक इमाः प्रजाः ॥
maharshayah sapta purve catvaro manavas tatha mad-bhava manasa jata yesham loka imah prajah
Meaning
The seven great sages of old, and the four Manus — born of My nature, arising from My mind — from them, these creatures of the world are descended.
Understanding
The cosmic genealogy: sapta maharshayah purve (the seven ancient great sages — the Saptarishis) and catvaro manava (the four Manus — the progenitors of humanity) — these were mad-bhava (of My nature, partaking of My being) and manasa jata (born of My mind — not from biological parents but from the divine mind). Yeshan loka imah prajah — from these all the creatures (praja) of the world (loka) are descended. The entire human family traces back to Krishna's mind-born emanations.
