Bhagavad Gita BG 10.18

Chapter 10, Verse 18 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

विस्तरेणात्मनो योगं विभूतिं च जनार्दन । भूयः कथय तृप्तिर्हि शृण्वतो नास्ति मेऽमृतम् ॥

vistare natmano yogam vibhutim ca janardana bhuyah kathaya trptir hi shrnvato nasti me 'mrtam

Meaning

Tell me again in detail of Your yoga and vibhuti, O Janardana. For hearing Your nectar-like words, I am never satisfied.

Understanding

Arjuna's beautiful expression of the insatiable joy of hearing about the Divine: bhuyah kathaya (tell me again) vistArena (in detail) — atmano yogam vibhutim ca (your yoga and vibhuti). TrptiH hi shrnvato nasti me — there is NO trpti (satiety, satisfaction) for me while hearing. Amrtam — the words are amrita, nectar (the drink of immortality). The teaching is itself nourishing, inexhaustible, life-giving. The devotee who truly hears never tires of hearing. This is the mark of genuine satsanga: the amrita that never leads to surfeit.
