Bhagavad Gita BG 10.1

Chapter 10, Verse 1 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

श्रीभगवानुवाच भूय एव महाबाहो शृणु मे परमं वचः । यत्तेऽहं प्रीयमाणाय वक्ष्यामि हितकाम्यया ॥

shri bhagavan uvaca bhuya eva maha-baho shrnhu me paramam vacah yat te 'ham priyamanaya vakshyami hita-kamyaya

Meaning

The Blessed Lord said: Again, O mighty-armed (Arjuna), hear My supreme word, which I shall speak to you who are beloved, out of a desire for your welfare (hita-kamyaya).

Understanding

Krishna reopens with bhuyah eva (again, once more). This is not repetition for lack of content — it is the mark of divine love. Hita-kamyaya means 'out of desire for your welfare (hita).' The teacher who is also the Beloved speaks again because the beloved needs to hear. Paramam vacah — the supreme word. What follows is not ordinary teaching but the supreme disclosure. The motivation is love (priyamanaya — to the beloved one) and care (hita-kamyaya). This framing transforms all that follows: the enumeration of divine glories is itself an act of love.
