Bhagavad Gita BG 1.3

Chapter 1, Verse 3 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

पश्यैतां पाण्डुपुत्राणामाचार्य महतीं चमूम् । व्यूढां द्रुपदपुत्रेण तव शिष्येण धीमता ॥ ३ ॥

paśyaitāṃ pāṇḍu-putrāṇām ācārya mahatīṃ camūm vyūḍhāṃ drupada-putreṇa tava śiṣyeṇa dhīmatā

Meaning

O teacher, behold this great army of the sons of Pandu, so skillfully arrayed by your own intelligent disciple, the son of Drupada.

Understanding

Duryodhana points out that the Pandava army has been arranged by Dhrishtadyumna — son of Drupada and a former student of Drona. There is a subtle sting here: Drona once humiliated Drupada, who then sought revenge by performing a sacrifice to obtain a son who would kill Drona. Now that very son commands the opposing army using Drona's own teachings.
