Bhagavad Gita BG 1.25

Chapter 1, Verse 25 — Meaning, Translation & Explanation

भीष्मद्रोणप्रमुखतः सर्वेषां च महीक्षिताम् । उवाच पार्थ पश्यैतान्समवेतान्कुरूनिति ॥ २५ ॥

bhīṣma-droṇa-pramukhataḥ sarveṣāṃ ca mahī-kṣitām uvāca pārtha paśyaitān samavetān kurūn iti

Meaning

In the presence of Bhishma, Drona, and all the kings of the earth, Krishna said: O Partha, behold all these Kurus assembled here.

Understanding

Krishna parks the chariot in the precise spot that maximises Arjuna's emotional impact — directly facing Bhishma and Drona, in front of all the assembled kings. Then he says simply: 'Look, Partha — look at all these Kurus.' Krishna uses the name 'Partha' (son of Pritha/Kunti), a name that emphasises Arjuna's human identity and family connections. The stage is set for recognition.
